New Elders Ordained

New elders were ordained at our watchnight service.

With the ongoing needs of the Whitewell congregation, the amount of work required to minister to all who need help, as well as ensuring the good and smooth running of the church, the oversight has appointed three new church elders: Derek McIlveen, Ian McAlees and Jonathan Stewart, to help lead the church and look after the congregation. Although announced some time back, the three new elders were formally ordained at our 2021 watchnight service, and later presented with a certificate of ordination during the Sunday Morning service on 9th January 2022. All those who have been asked to serve in this capacity have a long-time history of service in the Whitewell church.

Derek McIlveen has been a part of the Whitewell church for well over 40 years. He has served for over 30 years as deacon and lead-deacon and has over recent years been helping in our visitation – often alongside Pastor Frankie Weir.

Ian McAlees has been part of the Whitewell church for over 35 years. He has been a member of staff since 2004 and is our church Technical Director. He has contact with many of our online congregation.

Jonathan Stewart has been a member of Whitewell for some 25 years and currently serves as a steward.

Our church elders sit alongside our Pastors as the church leadership team. We ask sincerely for your prayers for these new elders and all those in a leadership position in Whitewell. Ask God for His hand of protection on all, and the Lord’s guidance and wisdom as they begin their new area of service in 2022.
